Fare free trains by the Indian Railways in Uttarakhand – Business Standard
Special trains have been started by the Ministry of Railways in the rain devastated Uttarakhand. The trains will be run from Haridwar to Delhi, Lucknow and Mumbai. With the help of the government of Uttarakhand, Indian Railways will help stranded passengers reach destinations free of cost. Special trains have also been started for evacuation purposes and special officers are deployed at Dehradun, Rishikesh, Haridwar and New Delhi. Special railway helpline numbers along with paramedical and railway police personnel have been deputed at these locations. A special task force has also been set up under the Railway Board chairman Vinay Mittal to monitor the situation. Railways have also set up additional booking and enquiry counters, along with adequate arrangement of catering and drinking water facilities. Frequent Announcements through public address system regarding status of trains and other passenger related services has also been set up at Haridwar, Rishikesh and Dehradun.
